Prolapse of the bladder is a problem that affects a person’s quality of life negatively. People who have to cope with this problem must definitely not ignore their situation and should consult a doctor before it progresses too far.

With the weakening of the muscles and ligaments that hold the bladder, the bladder bulges towards the vagina, and as a result this appears as an inability to empty the bladder completely when passing urine, a constant feeling of needing to urinate and certain problems during intercourse.

The signs of bladder prolapse

– A feeling of pressure in the pelvis and the vagina is among the most important signs of bladder prolapse. As soon as such a feeling occurs, and especially if this feeling of pressure increases when the bladder is full, when bending or when coughing, it is necessary to go to the doctor.

– If after passing urine you have the feeling that you have not passed urine at all, or if you feel that you have not emptied your bladder completely, you may be facing the problem of bladder prolapse.

– Having urinary tract infections and this problem recurring frequently also indicate that there is a problem with your bladder.

– Pain during sexual intercourse, an excessive feeling of pressure and urinary incontinence are also among the signs of bladder prolapse.

– All these signs point to bladder prolapse, but the way bladder prolapse says “Here I am” is the tissue that creates a bulge at the vaginal opening (the tissue descending from the upper wall of the vagina). This protrusion is an indicator that bladder prolapse has reached its final stage. It must definitely not be neglected.

It can turn your quality of life upside down

Bladder prolapse turns quality of life and comfort upside down. While emptying the bladder becomes difficult, problems linked to this situation such as urinary incontinence, which affect social life negatively, also appear.

A feeling of pain during sexual intercourse also affects the person’s life badly. Because of bladder prolapse there is an increase in infections. This causes people to have urinary tract infections constantly and, for this reason, for their social lives to be affected.

The situations that trigger bladder prolapse

A difficult vaginal birth, the baby born weighing 4,000 grams or more, gaining and losing weight excessively, obesity, constipation and a continuous cough trigger bladder prolapse.

Independently of these, bladder prolapse can also occur genetically. The main reason for this genetic problem is that the person has weak connective tissue.

Bladder prolapse can also occur in connection with ageing. For this reason, bladder prolapse can appear even if the triggering factors above are not present. Muscles that lose their strength with ageing can cause prolapse.
