Endometriosis is a chronic disease in which the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus, grows outside the uterus and spreads to other organs. It causes inflammation in the pelvic region. Known publicly as chocolate cyst, this disease should be diagnosed and treated by experienced physicians.

He was born in Antakya in 1974. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1999 and completed his specialty training at the Republic of Türkiye Prime Ministry Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital (Bezmialem University), becoming an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist in 2004. He attended trainings on endoscopy, chocolate cyst and pelvic pain in Spain, France, the USA, Canada and Denmark. He is one of ten people in the world to have completed the training in endometriosis, pelvic pain and advanced pelvic surgery.

He is the President of the Endometriosis Society and a board member of the European Endometriosis League and of the Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy. He has been a member of the scientific board of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL) for 6 years.
