Today I came all the way from Boston, Massachusetts to see Professor Taner. After my experience with the American healthcare system I had lost faith in the process. My cyst had been overlooked and had grown over time from 5 cm to 8 cm. I did not want to keep playing the waiting game and began looking for a specialist who could treat me in another state, or even in Europe. I reviewed leading endometriosis specialists in France, Belgium and other countries. In the end I chose Professor Taner for his extraordinary expertise in this field. He is the best surgeon I have ever met: incredibly skilled, knowledgeable and professional. He removed my large endometrioma through a single incision inside my navel, leaving almost no visible scar. Most importantly, he preserved my ovary, my tube and my fertility. Removing a cyst of that size without an additional incision and while preserving ovarian tissue takes extraordinary surgical skill. My recovery was just as remarkable: on the second day after surgery I was ready to go home, and on the fourth day I was walking around Istanbul and shopping as if I had never had an operation. 10 months ago For four years I had aching, sharp pain in my lower back, in the lumbosacral area. The pain was especially severe before, during and after my period. I saw different doctors at private clinics in Istanbul, had various MRI scans and countless tests, but nobody could find the cause. They all said that my existing problems, such as fibroids and cysts, could not cause pain like that. At my last check-up it turned out that my fibroid had reached 6 cm and required surgery. So I started looking for a gynaecologist and found Dr Taner Usta. After reading all the reviews and watching his videos I booked an appointment. He listened to all my complaints very carefully, then carried out a detailed examination and identified the cause of my pain straight away. It turned out I had deep infiltrating endometriosis. It was decided to perform laparoscopic surgery to deal with both problems at once.
